Alexander Hitzinger, born in Passau, Germany, is a distinguished engineer with over two decades of leadership in the automotive and technology sectors. He began his career as a development engineer at Toyota Motorsport, later advancing to Head of Formula One Development at Cosworth, where he led the team that developed the first F1 engine to reach 20,000 rpm on track.
Hitzinger's expertise further extended to roles such as Head of Advanced Technologies at Red Bull Technology and Technical Director at Scuderia Toro Rosso. In 2011, he joined Porsche as Technical Director of the LMP1 project, contributing to the Porsche 919's victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015.
Transitioning to the tech industry, Hitzinger served as Head of Product Design for Apple's Titan electric vehicle project. He returned to the automotive field in 2019 as Senior Vice President of Autonomous Driving at Volkswagen Group and as a member of the Executive Board of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, focusing on self-driving technologies and mobility services.
In November 2020, Hitzinger was appointed CEO of ARTEMIS GmbH, a Volkswagen subsidiary dedicated to developing advanced automotive technologies. He stepped down from this role in May 2021. Since then, he has joined the boards of various technology companies, including Foretellix, contributing his extensive experience to the advancement of autonomous driving systems.
Throughout his career, Hitzinger has been recognized for his innovative contributions to automotive engineering and autonomous technologies, playing a pivotal role in bridging the automotive and technology industries.
